Cherry Blossoms, Good Vibes & a Whole Lot of Community Magic
Brookhaven family and friends, you showed up and showed out! The 2025 Cherry Blossom Festival was everything we hoped it would be and more. The crowds were full of energy, the music was top-tier, and best of all—the rain held off just long enough for us to enjoy it all.
We’re proud to say the weekend wrapped up with no major incidents, and that’s thanks to YOU—our amazing community—and all the people working behind the scenes. Huge shoutout to our City Officials and Staff, vendors, event partners, law enforcement, security teams, and every helping hand that made this celebration both safe and unforgettable.
The cherry blossoms may be fading, but the good vibes are still going strong. 🌸 Let’s carry that energy into the rest of the season—Brookhaven-style.

This week, we're handing the spotlight over to the real stars of the Cherry Blossom Festival—our Community Heroes who made the magic happen, one smile, song, and safe moment at a time.
From the officers on foot patrol to the crews hauling gear before sunrise, to the volunteers greeting everyone with a grin—you brought the energy, the care, and the community spirit that made this event unforgettable.
Whether you were directing traffic, grilling up festival eats, managing stage logistics, or just bringing good vibes, you played a part in making Brookhaven bloom.
So here’s to you—our city staff, first responders, vendors, artists, volunteers, and all the friendly faces behind the scenes. Check out some of the photos below and visit our Facebook and Instagram for more photos of this week’s festival. Be sure to tag your favorites, and celebrate the people who made it all possible.

Traffic Safety Tips: Light It Up, Brookhaven!
Let’s talk bike safety—and no, we’re not just talking about wearing a helmet. If you're riding your bike at night, Georgia law requires two things:
A white light on the front
A red reflector on the back
Both should be visible from at least 300 feet away—because if a car can’t see you, they can’t avoid you.
These aren’t just random rules—they’re lifesavers. Reflectors and lights are super affordable, easy to install, and could be the difference between a peaceful night ride and a dangerous close call.
So if you’re cruising through Brookhaven after dark:
✅ Light it up.
✅ Be seen.
✅ Stay safe.
Let’s keep our streets safe for everyone.
If you see something, say something. Your call could make all the difference. For emergencies, always dial 911.

Lock It Before You Lose It – Bike & Scooter Safety
Warmer weather means more time outside, and we love seeing bikes around Brookhaven—but so do thieves.
Don’t make it easy for them. Whether you're grabbing a coffee, heading into the park, or enjoying a local event—always lock up your ride.
🔐 Here’s how to protect your wheels:
Use a heavy-duty U-lock (not just a cable lock).
Lock both the frame and at least one wheel to a sturdy bike rack or post.
Avoid locking in poorly lit or isolated areas.
Remove accessories like lights or bags when leaving your bike unattended.
Register your bike’s serial number and take photos of it—this helps if it ever goes missing.
Taking just a few extra seconds to secure your bike can save you a world of frustration later. Stay smart, stay alert, and keep rolling safely, Brookhaven!
Brookhaven Strong
Here's to Strong Women
As Women’s History Month comes to a close, let’s carry its energy forward.
Here’s to the women who lead, lift, protect, create, and inspire—not just in March, but every single day. Keep showing up, speaking up, and standing tall. Brookhaven is better because of you.

Have a Question? We’ve Got Answers!
This section answers questions submitted by our community. Here’s one we received recently:
Q: I saw a coyote near my home—what should I do?
A: Seeing a coyote in Brookhaven is not unusual, especially in the early morning or evening. While they generally avoid people, it’s important to know how to respond:
Do NOT approach or feed it—this makes them more comfortable around humans, which can be dangerous.
Make yourself big and loud—clap your hands, yell, or use a noise-making device to scare it off.
Keep pets indoors or on a short leash, especially during dawn and dusk.
Secure garbage cans, remove pet food, and clean up fallen fruit to avoid attracting them.
If the coyote is acting aggressively or won’t leave your property, contact Animal Control through DeKalb County.
Coyotes are part of our ecosystem—but being informed and cautious keeps everyone safe.
