A Community That Chooses Safety
This week, Brookhaven joins schools and families across the country in celebrating Red Ribbon Week; a time to stand for wellness, awareness, and choices that keep our community strong.
But this week isn’t just about saying no to drugs, it’s about saying yes to a healthier, safer Brookhaven. When we choose mindfulness over quick fixes, connection over isolation, and accountability over silence, we protect more than ourselves, we protect our future.
As we head into Halloween weekend, let’s keep that same spirit of safety alive from the choices we make behind the wheel to the care we show walking our neighborhoods.
Together, we can make every street, school, and home in Brookhaven a space where safety, trust, and health thrive.

Brookhaven Stands for Safe Choices
Red ribbons are popping up across Brookhaven this week, on school fences, in classrooms, and in community spaces, as students, families, and city partners unite to celebrate Red Ribbon Week, the nation’s oldest drug-prevention campaign.
While this week traditionally focuses on youth, it’s also a powerful reminder for all of us to take a step back and think about the health of our whole community mind, body, and connection.
Officers from the Brookhaven Police Department have been joining local schools and neighborhood groups to share prevention tips, encourage open conversations, and remind students that “living drug free” is about more than saying no, it’s about saying yes to the things that build us up: friendship, purpose, and self-respect.
Creating a safe and drug-free Brookhaven is something we do together, one conversation, one choice, and one caring action at a time.

Partner Spotlight: Kroger – A Neighbor Who Shows Up
Partnerships are what keep Brookhaven strong, and this week we’re shining a light on one of our most dependable community partners, Kroger, located at 3871 Peachtree Road.
Kroger has been a steady supporter of our city’s outreach efforts, always ready to lend a hand, whether it’s providing supplies for local events, supporting donation drives, or showing up when our community needs a boost.
Their team’s generosity and commitment remind us that community service doesn’t always happen in uniform, sometimes, it happens in the aisles, checkout lines, and breakrooms of businesses that care.
To the entire Kroger team, thank you for being a trusted neighbor and partner. Your willingness to serve makes a lasting impact and helps us keep Brookhaven connected, cared for, and thriving.
Community Heroes: The Rockstars Behind the Badge
This month, we’re shining the spotlight on the incredible professional staff of the Brookhaven Police Department; the unsung heroes who keep our department running every single day.
From records and communications to logistics, finance, training, and more, our professional staff are the steady hands and sharp minds behind the scenes who make sure every detail is handled with care and excellence.
They are the voices that greet you at the front desk, the experts who manage critical systems, the organizers who keep events moving, and the problem-solvers who make sure officers can focus on serving the community.
Their work doesn’t always make headlines, but it makes all the difference. They are the heartbeat of our department, the planners, the doers, the connectors, and the rockstars who keep everything in rhythm.
To every member of our professional staff: thank you for your dedication, professionalism, and pride in service. You remind us that teamwork is more than a word, it’s the foundation of everything we do.

Community Call to Action: Give the Gift of Joy
The holidays are almost here and that means it’s time for one of our favorite traditions: Shop with a Badge!
On Saturday, December 13, 2025, Brookhaven Police officers, Target team members, and first responders from across the area will come together to help local children experience the joy of the season.
Each year, officers and volunteers spend the morning shopping alongside kids, sharing smiles, laughter, and a little Christmas magic.
If you’d like to sponsor a child or make a donation, we’d love for you to be part of this special day. It’s not a requirement just an opportunity to help make the holidays a little brighter for a family in our community.
Event Details: Date: Saturday, December 13, 2025 Time: 6:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Location: Target, 2400 N. Druid Hills Rd., Brookhaven, GA
To Volunteer or Donate: email Sgt. Moore at [email protected] for more information.
Because sometimes, the greatest gift you can give is a reason to smile.

Student Corner: Be Kind to Your Mind
Red Ribbon Week might come once a year, but the choices you make every day shape who you become. Being “drug free” isn’t just about avoiding harmful things, it’s about choosing what helps you grow, think clearly, and feel good about yourself.
Between school, friends, and responsibilities, it’s easy to feel pressure. That’s why taking care of your mind matters just as much as your grades or goals.
Here are a few ways to stay grounded and strong:
Protect your peace. Surround yourself with people who make you feel supported and positive.
Speak up. If something feels heavy, talk to someone, you don’t have to carry it alone.
Stay focused on your “why.” The more you know what you’re working toward, the easier it is to make good choices.
Rest matters. Your brain needs downtime to dream big and stay balanced.
Kindness to your mind is strength and every strong choice you make helps keep Brookhaven a place where youth and community thrive together.

Safety and Awareness: Halloween On Our Streets
Costumes, candy, and community, it’s almost Halloween in Brookhaven! As families get ready for trick-or-treating and fall festivities, we’re reminding everyone to stay alert and make safety part of the fun.
Brookhaven officers will be out along popular trick-or-treat corridors and neighborhood routes this weekend, helping ensure everyone enjoys the night safely. Whether you’re walking, driving, or handing out candy, here are a few reminders to keep in mind:
For Pedestrians & Trick-or-Treaters:
Cross streets at corners, using crosswalks and signals when possible.
Carry a flashlight or wear reflective gear to stay visible.
Walk — don’t run — and always look both ways before crossing.
Younger children should always be accompanied by an adult.
For Drivers:
Slow down and stay alert, especially in residential areas.
Watch for children crossing streets or darting between parked cars.
Avoid distractions and drive with headlights on, even before dark.
For Residents:
Keep your porch well-lit and sidewalks clear for visitors.
If you’re hosting a trunk-or-treat or neighborhood event, email us your details, our officers would love to stop by!
This weekend is about more than candy, it’s about community. Let’s make Halloween a night full of laughter, safety, and Brookhaven spirit!
If you see something, say something. Your call could make all the difference. For emergencies, always dial 911.
Brookhaven Strong - The Power of One Choice
Every safe decision, every small act of awareness, kindness, or courage, adds up to something powerful.
When a driver slows down for trick-or-treaters, when a student chooses to be kind to their mind, when a neighbor checks on another, those choices create the kind of community we’re proud to call home.
Brookhaven’s strength has always come from its people. From classrooms to crosswalks, parks to patrols, each of us plays a part in keeping our city safe, healthy, and connected.
So as we move through this season of celebration and gratitude, let’s remember:
It only takes one good choice to make a difference — and together, our choices build a stronger Brookhaven.

Have a Question? We’ve Got Answers!
This section answers questions submitted by our community. Here’s one we received recently:
Q: Why do we see more patrol cars around the city during holidays and special events?
A: Great question and one we hear often! When you see more Brookhaven Police vehicles on the road, it’s not always about enforcement, it’s about presence and prevention.
During holidays, school breaks, and large community events, our officers increase patrols in neighborhoods, shopping plazas, and along major corridors. This helps deter crime, manage heavier traffic, and ensure help is close by if someone needs it.
You might also see officers walking around local businesses or parking lots, that’s intentional. We believe visibility builds trust and helps residents feel safe connecting with the officers who serve them.
Our goal is simple: to keep Brookhaven safe, visible, and connected, not just during the holidays, but every day of the year.
