Because Listening Builds Trust
This past Wednesday, we had the honor of hosting our 2025 Spanish Citizens Police Academy and what a night it was! From thoughtful questions to moments of shared laughter, it was more than just a class it was connection in action.
At Brookhaven PD, we believe we’re only as strong as the voices we hear. That means creating real access to safety resources and communication that reflects the full diversity of our city. During this academy, we heard something important: not everyone has been receiving the information they need and we’re committed to changing that.
Starting now, our Brookhaven Police Community Newsletter will be available in both English and Spanish. We’re also excited to relaunch our Spanish-language Facebook page and introduce our brand-new Instagram en Español.
Know someone who needs this?
Please share this link with your Spanish-speaking neighbors, family, or friends. One small act of connection can make a big difference.
Let’s keep building something stronger together.

Community Heroes: Thank You for Standing With Us
This past week, our department came together for a well-deserved appreciation cookout. It wasn’t just a meal, it was a moment to pause, connect, and recognize the work being done every day by our officers.
We’d like to extend a sincere thank you to Kroger, Publix, and the Brookhaven Foundation for sponsoring this event. Your support made it possible for our team to feel valued and seen.
Partnerships like these are a reminder that community doesn’t happen on its own, it’s built through moments like this, where businesses, organizations, and public servants stand shoulder to shoulder.
Thank you for being part of what makes Brookhaven stronger.

Traffic Safety Tips: Speeding Isn’t Worth It
We get it, life moves fast. But that doesn’t mean your car should.
Speeding through neighborhoods or busy streets doesn’t just risk a ticket, it puts lives in danger. Whether it’s kids playing, someone backing out of a driveway, or a pedestrian crossing the street, every mile per hour over the limit reduces your ability to stop in time.
Here’s the reality:
Speeding is one of the top causes of serious crashes.
The faster you go, the harder the impact.
Slowing down just 5–10 mph could be the difference between a close call and a tragedy.
Let’s drive like we live here because we do. Respect the speed limit, especially in residential areas, school zones, and near parks.
Brookhaven deserves safe streets. Let’s keep them that way.
If you see something, say something. Your call could make all the difference. For emergencies, always dial 911.

Crime Prevention: Let There Be (Smart) Light
Let’s talk lights!
Lighting isn’t just about curb appeal—it’s one of the most powerful tools in preventing crime at home. A well-lit exterior makes it harder for suspicious activity to go unnoticed and gives potential intruders a reason to move on.
Here’s what to keep in mind:
Light the criminal, not your home. You want clear visibility around walkways, driveways, doors, and blind spots—not a spotlight into your living room.
Consistency matters. A steady level of outdoor lighting at night reduces shadows and eliminates hiding spots.
Strategic placement is key. Focus on entry points, backyards, and side paths. Avoid lighting that creates deep contrasts or glare.
Make it automatic. Motion sensors or dusk-to-dawn timers can help save energy while still protecting your space.
Lighting doesn’t just deter crime—it helps you and your neighbors feel safer and more aware.

Brookhaven Strong
United Beyond Differences
In a world that often feels divided, Brookhaven continues to prove that community is stronger than conflict. Here, we don’t have to agree on everything to show up for one another. We don’t have to look the same, speak the same language, or come from the same background to build something meaningful together.
Whether it’s sharing a meal at a neighborhood cookout, collaborating on a youth event, or simply pausing to listen, we’re reminded that community isn’t built on sameness. It’s built on respect, connection, and action.
At Brookhaven PD, we believe that safety and unity go hand in hand. That’s why we’re committed to showing up in every neighborhood, learning from every voice, and creating space for everyone to belong.
This is what it means to be #BrookhavenStrong.
Let’s keep showing up. Let’s keep building together.
