Welcome to the New Brookhaven Pulse
This month, we’re turning the page and turning up the connection.
Our community is constantly growing, evolving, and showing up for one another in new ways. That’s why the Brookhaven Police Department newsletter is expanding too; from a simple update to a living, breathing resource for our city.
Here, you’ll find the stories behind the smiles, the events that bring us together, and the practical tools that help keep us safe and thriving. We’ll spotlight local partners, highlight the people shaping Brookhaven’s future, and share ways you can make an impact, right where you are.
Because public safety isn’t just our job, it’s our shared commitment to each other. Welcome to a new kind of newsletter, one built on connection, collaboration, and community in motion.

Community Heroes:
This year’s Faith & Blue Health & Wellness Fair was more than a Saturday event, it was a picture of what happens when community comes together with one heart and one goal: to care for one another.
Families, local organizations, and Brookhaven officers filled Northeast Plaza with laughter, connection, and purpose. Together, we turned togetherness, wellness, food, and fun into something powerful…community well-being.
Attendees enjoyed free resources, fitness and salsa classes, mental health support, music, games, and snacks, all while connecting with the officers who serve them daily. Our incredible vendors and partners provided education, encouragement, and tangible tools to help residents lead healthier, safer lives.
The Brookhaven Police Department extends heartfelt thanks to every vendor, partner, and resident who showed up, your presence turned a simple fair into a living example of Faith & Blue in action.
Together, we’re building a healthier, more connected Brookhaven, one relationship at a time.

We’re collecting donations now through the day of the event. Items needed include:
Gently used clothing and blankets, New socks and undergarments, Personal hygiene products (travel-size preferred), Non-perishable snacks and bottled water.

Your generosity helps bring warmth, dignity, and hope to someone who needs it most. Together, we can make this Day of Service a day of change.

Student Corner: Study Smart, Stress Less
The school year is in full swing, and that means late nights, big tests, and sometimes…a little stress. But success doesn’t have to mean burnout.
Here are a few simple ways to stay focused and balanced this semester:
Set small goals.
Big projects feel easier when you break them into steps. Try studying one subject at a time for short bursts: 25-minute sessions with quick breaks in between.
Create your study zone.
Find a quiet spot, put your phone on “Do Not Disturb,” and make your space your own. A clutter-free area keeps your mind clear, too.
Rest and recharge.
Sleep, water, and movement help your brain work better. You can’t pour from an empty cup!
Ask for help early.
Teachers, tutors, and mentors want to see you succeed, don’t wait until you’re overwhelmed.
Remember: studying smarter isn’t about doing more, it’s about doing what works best for you.
Stay focused, stay kind to yourself, and finish strong, because your hard work today builds the future Brookhaven tomorrow.

Safety and Awareness: Stay Smart, Avoid Holiday Scams
The holidays bring out the best in people and unfortunately, sometimes the worst. As we head into the season of giving, scammers often look for ways to take advantage of our generosity and busy schedules.
Here’s how to stay one step ahead:
Online Shopping Scams
Only buy from trusted websites. Look for secure payment methods and double-check that the web address begins with “https.” Be cautious of deals that seem too good to be true, they usually are.
Package Delivery Scams
Scammers often send fake “missed delivery” emails or texts. Don’t click links or provide information. If you’re unsure, go directly to the delivery company’s official website or app to check your package status.
Charity Scams
Before donating, verify the organization through CharityNavigator.org or the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Real charities will never pressure you to donate on the spot or via gift cards or wire transfers.
Phishing and Fake Emails
If you receive a suspicious message from what looks like your bank, utility company, or even a retailer, don’t click, contact the company directly using a verified number or website.
Trust Your Gut
If something doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t. Scammers rely on urgency and emotion to trick you. Slow down, double-check, and when in doubt, ask for help.
If you think you’ve been targeted by a scam, contact the Brookhaven Police Department.
Let’s keep the season joyful — not stressful — by staying alert, informed, and connected.
If you see something, say something. Your call could make all the difference. For emergencies, always dial 911.
Brookhaven Strong
The Beauty of Us
Every culture, every voice, every story adds something beautiful to the heart of Brookhaven.
From the music and colors of the International Festival to the kindness shown at our Day of Service, diversity isn’t just something we celebrate, it’s something we live.
When we choose to see one another beyond labels and differences, we build a city where trust thrives, friendships grow, and every neighbor feels like family.
Our strength has never been in sameness, it’s in the blend of who we are, together.
Let’s keep leading with compassion, showing up for one another, and building bridges that remind us what makes this city so special: The people. The places. The pulse of Brookhaven.

Have a Question? We’ve Got Answers!
This section answers questions submitted by our community. Here’s one we received recently:
Q: Why do officers leave a business card in my door when checking my home while I’m on vacation? Doesn’t that let people know I’m away?
A: Great question and one we hear often! When some officers conduct vacation checks, they leave a business card as a courtesy notice. It’s a simple way to confirm that your home was checked and everything appeared secure at the time of the visit.
We understand the concern about visibility, and there are options. If you’d prefer not to have a card left in your door, you can note that when filling out your Vacation Watch Request Form. Our officers can instead document the check internally and you can request a report of checks on your return home.
The goal is always peace of mind ensuring your property is protected while respecting your privacy.
