2025: A Year of Showing Up

As we close out 2025, we want to take a moment to reflect. Not just on numbers or headlines, but on the people, the moments, and the work that shaped this year in Brookhaven.

This year reminded us that policing is not only about enforcement. It is about presence. It is about trust. It is about showing up consistently, whether the call is big or small, whether the moment is public or quiet.

Throughout 2025, Brookhaven Police officers and professional staff served our community in ways that went far beyond what most people ever see.

We responded when residents needed help.
We built partnerships that strengthened neighborhoods.
We created space for conversation, connection, and understanding.
And we remained committed to being here, every day, for the people we serve.

Service in Action

In 2025, Brookhaven officers responded to thousands of calls for service, ranging from routine assistance to critical incidents. Our emergency response times continued to exceed national and regional benchmarks, reinforcing our commitment to protecting life and property when seconds matter.

But service this year was not just about response. It was about prevention and presence. (View our Youtube Channel below).

We increased visibility in neighborhoods.
We expanded crime prevention efforts.
We used technology responsibly to stop crimes like vehicle break-ins and porch piracy before they spread.

The arrest of porch piracy suspects during the holiday season is just one example of how proactive patrol, community reporting, and technology came together to deliver real results.

Building Trust Beyond the Badge

Trust is built long before a crisis, and 2025 gave us countless opportunities to connect.

We walked alongside children during Shop with a Badge, serving 106 kids and creating moments of joy that many families will carry with them for years.
We partnered with businesses, faith organizations, schools, and nonprofits to meet people where they are.
We spent meaningful time with seniors, touring City Centre, playing bingo, laughing, listening, and learning together.

We welcomed new officers into our department and celebrated milestones that matter, including the appointment of Brookhaven’s first female K-9 officer, a moment that reflects progress, leadership, and possibility.

What the Community Told Us

This year, feedback mattered.

Citywide survey results showed strong community confidence in the Brookhaven Police Department, including high satisfaction with officer professionalism, response times, visibility, and overall service quality.

Even more telling was the feedback from residents who interacted directly with our officers. Through PowerEngage, satisfaction remained consistently above 90 percent throughout the year.

Two different perspectives led to the same conclusion.
Brookhaven residents trust their police department.

That trust belongs to every sworn officer and every professional staff member who shows up with integrity, compassion, and accountability.

Better Together

2025 reinforced an important truth. Public safety does not happen in isolation.

It happens when neighbors look out for one another.
When businesses step in to support community programs.
When residents share information, register cameras, and stay engaged.
And when officers and the community work side by side, not just in emergencies, but every day.

One of the ways we’ve seen this connection grow is through the Brookhaven Police Community Pulse. This year, more than 500 residents chose to stay informed through the newsletter, using it as a way to learn, share, and stay connected to what’s happening in their city. That engagement has strengthened communication and helped build a more informed and involved community.

Every partnership, every conversation, and every shared resource contributes to a safer Brookhaven. Whether it happens through a neighborhood interaction, a community event, or a message shared through the Community Pulse, it all points to the same outcome.

We are grateful for everyone who shows up, stays engaged, and helps move our city forward. Together, we continue building a community that is informed, connected, and strong.

As We Turn the Page

As this year comes to a close, one thing remains constant.

Brookhaven Police shows up.

Not only when it is visible.
Not only when it is easy.
But when it matters most.

We show up to listen.
We show up to respond.
We show up to serve with professionalism, care, and accountability.

The trust we carry into the next year was built call by call, conversation by conversation, and moment by moment throughout 2025. That trust is something we do not take lightly.

Thank you for allowing us to serve.
Thank you for engaging with us.
Thank you for standing with us as we continue this work together.

Looking Ahead to 2026: Grounded in Who We Are

As we look toward 2026, our focus is clear. We move forward grounded in Brookhaven’s organizational identity and committed to serving our community with purpose, integrity, and accountability.

At the core of our work is a shared set of values that guide every decision we make. Service, respect, professionalism, and transparency are not just words. They are expectations we hold ourselves to every day. These principles shape how we respond to calls, how we engage with residents, how we build partnerships, and how we lead within our department.

In 2026, you can expect the Brookhaven Police Department to continue strengthening trust through consistent service and open communication. We will remain focused on community engagement that goes beyond enforcement, investing in relationships with residents, businesses, schools, faith organizations, and neighborhood groups. We will continue to use technology responsibly to enhance safety while respecting privacy. And we will keep developing our officers and professional staff so they are equipped, supported, and prepared to serve at the highest level.

Most importantly, we will continue to show up. In every neighborhood. In every season. In moments of need and in moments of progress.

Our identity is not defined by a single year or a single initiative. It is defined by how we serve, how we lead, and how we partner with our community to create a safer, stronger Brookhaven.

We look forward to continuing this work together in 2026.

To Our Brookhaven Neighbors,

As we close out this year, we want to simply say thank you.

Thank you for trusting us.
Thank you for engaging with us.
Thank you for allowing us into your neighborhoods, your events, your schools, and your lives.

Public safety is more than responding to calls. It is built in everyday moments. In conversations, partnerships, shared responsibility, and mutual respect. This year reminded us that when a community and its police department move together, real progress happens.

We do not take our role lightly. Whether you call us for help, wave as we pass by, attend an event, or hold us accountable, every interaction matters. Your voice matters.

As we step into a new year, know this. We are here. We are committed. And we will continue to serve Brookhaven with integrity, professionalism, and care.

From all of us at the Brookhaven Police Department, thank you for being part of this community.

With respect,
Brookhaven Police Department
