Wow, Brookhaven-We Did It!
Georgia snowstorms are rare, but you made the most of it in true Brookhaven fashion. We heard about residents bringing out skis, trash can tops, pool floaties, and anything else that could double as a sled. Our local parks became a winter wonderland, and we’re thrilled to hear stories of families coming together to enjoy the snow.
Now that the sun is shining again, let’s shift gears (literally). Please continue to drive safely and be mindful of pedestrians sharing the road. With clearer skies, it’s the perfect time to remember: More focus, less distraction. Together, we can keep Brookhaven’s roadways safe for everyone.
Here’s to making the most of every season—whether it’s snow boots or sunglasses!

Community Heroes: Let’s Welcome New Officers

Making Brookhaven a Safer Place One Officer at a Time
This week, we’re thrilled to spotlight our two newest officers, Officer Everett and Officer Hepler, as our Community Heroes.
Both officers bring dedication, enthusiasm, and a commitment to serving the Brookhaven community with excellence. They’ve already hit the ground running, and we couldn’t be more excited to have them as part of the Brookhaven Police Department family.
Please join us in giving a warm Brookhaven welcome to Officer Everett and Officer Hepler. We look forward to the positive impact they will make in keeping our community safe and connected. Welcome aboard!

Safety Tips: Safety Tip: Red Means Stop, Yellow Means Slow Down
Let’s refresh the rules of the road to keep everyone safe:
Red Light: Stop completely behind the white line. Stopping on or over the white line is technically considered running a red light and can put pedestrians in danger. By stopping behind the line, you allow pedestrians to safely use the crosswalk.
Yellow Light: Slow down and prepare to stop—it’s not an invitation to speed through! Proceed only if you’re too close to the intersection to stop safely.
Green Light: Go, but always proceed with caution, especially at busy intersections.
Pedestrian Lights:
If a light is red, you must stop for pedestrians.
If a light is flashing red, you may proceed only with caution. Always stop first and ensure the crosswalk is clear before continuing.
Additional Red Light Safety Tips:
No Right on Red Without a Full Stop: If turning right on red is permitted, always come to a complete stop and check for oncoming traffic or pedestrians before proceeding.
Avoid Distractions: Pay attention to traffic signals, and don’t rely solely on the car in front of you to determine when to stop or go.
Anticipate Light Changes: Pay attention to stale green lights (those that have been green for a while). Be ready to slow down if the light turns yellow.
Following these guidelines helps keep everyone—drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists—safe on the road. A little patience and attention can prevent accidents and save lives. Let’s all do our part to make Brookhaven’s roads safer! 🚦
If you see something, say something. Your call could make all the difference. For emergencies, always dial 911.

Crime Prevention
Protect Your Packages from Porch Pirates
With more packages arriving at doorsteps, it’s important to stay vigilant and take steps to prevent package theft. Here’s how you can protect your deliveries from porch pirates:
Schedule Deliveries: Use tracking tools to know exactly when your package will arrive and plan to bring it in promptly.
Require Signatures: Opt for delivery options that require a signature to ensure your package isn’t left unattended.
Use Secure Locations: If you’re not home, have packages delivered to a secure location like a P.O. box, an Amazon locker, or your workplace.
Install Security Cameras: A visible camera can act as a deterrent and provide evidence if theft occurs.
Team Up with Neighbors: Watch out for each other by collecting packages for neighbors who aren’t home and asking them to do the same for you.
Remember, porch pirates thrive on opportunity. By taking a few simple steps, you can outsmart them and keep your packages safe! 📦
