A Season of Protection and Partnership
As we move through the holiday season, we’re reminded of two things that make Brookhaven stronger every day, the commitment to protect and the willingness to give.
This month, our officers continued working around the clock to keep neighborhoods safe, making key arrests that directly prevent future crime in our community. At the same time, our residents and partners showed what the heart of Brookhaven really looks like, showing up with donations, support, and kindness for those who need it most.
From safety to service, from arrests to outreach, there’s one message we want this issue to send loud and clear:
Brookhaven is at its best when we move together.
Let’s keep that momentum going as we close out the year with purpose, compassion, and community at the center.

Strong Teamwork Leads to a Major Arrest
We want to keep our community informed about what is happening in your neighborhoods. When something significant occurs, we believe in sharing it openly so you know how your officers are working to protect Brookhaven. This recent case is a strong example of quick action, teamwork, and commitment to keeping you safe. Below is the full update.
Brookhaven Police Arrest Five Suspects in Overnight Vehicle Break-In Crew
Brookhaven, GA – November 14, 2025 – The Brookhaven Police Department arrested five suspects involved in a series of vehicle break-ins at a Brookhaven Apartment, located near Clairmont Road. The incident occurred on November 13, 2025, at approximately 4:47 a.m.
Officers were dispatched to the apartment complex after receiving reports of several individuals pulling on vehicle door handles and attempting to enter multiple vehicles inside the parking deck. When officers arrived, they observed two vehicles attempting to flee the area. The lead officer quickly maneuvered to block the first vehicle, preventing it from escaping. The driver ran from the vehicle and attempted to enter a second suspect vehicle, which was already occupied by multiple individuals. Officers immediately issued commands, gaining compliance and taking all suspects into custody without further incident. Their coordinated response helped secure the scene swiftly and safely.
As the investigation unfolded, officers uncovered firearms, tools, and other equipment consistent with ongoing criminal activity. Detectives also developed information indicating the group may have been involved in additional offenses at other locations before arriving at the apartment complex, leading investigators to expand their review for possible connections to other cases.
“Brookhaven officers acted quickly and decisively, preventing these individuals from escaping and putting a stop to their criminal activity,” said Brandon Gurley, Chief of Police for the Brookhaven Police Department. “Our priority has always been to protect our community, and this case shows how effective teamwork and immediate police response can make a real difference in keeping our residents safe.”
This case remains under active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Brookhaven Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit at (404) 637-0600.

Partner Spotlight: A Community that Gives Together
This week, we want to send a heartfelt thank you to the incredible partners who helped make our Day of Service with Frontline Response a success. Their generosity fed families, lifted spirits, and reminded us of what community support truly looks like.
A special thank you to:
Kroger
Jersey Mike’s
Mellow Mushroom
Chick-fil-A
Panera Bread
Each of these businesses stepped up in a big way by providing food and support for our neighbors who are experiencing hardship. Their contributions helped us care for more than one hundred people during the event, and their continued partnership shows how powerful it is when local businesses choose to serve alongside law enforcement.
We are grateful for every donation, every meal, and every act of kindness that helps us make Brookhaven stronger. Thank you for being partners we can count on.
Community Heroes: Celebrating Officer G. Dunn
This issue, we want to shine a light on someone who has made an incredible impact across Brookhaven. Officer Dunn is a key part of our Community Engagement Unit and serves as the lead for our commercial business partnerships, senior citizen outreach, and unhoused support efforts.
If you have ever seen Officer Dunn at a business meet and greet, a senior program, or walking alongside our outreach partners, you already know the level of care she brings to every interaction. She builds real connections, listens with intention, and consistently shows up for people who depend on her the most.
Her work with seniors helps them feel supported and seen. Her communication with local businesses strengthens safety and trust. Her compassion during outreach reminds our unhoused neighbors that they are valued members of this community. Officer Dunn brings patience, dedication, and heart to every role she fulfills, and we are proud to have her representing the Brookhaven Police Department.
To Officer Dunn, thank you for your commitment to people, your steady leadership, and the way you interact with others to make them feel seen and heard.

Community Call to Action: Support a Child Through Shop With a Badge
The holidays are here, and we are getting ready for one of our favorite traditions in Brookhaven, Shop With a Badge. This event gives children in our community a chance to shop with officers, choose gifts, and experience a morning filled with joy and connection.
If you would like to help make this day even more special, we welcome donations that support the children who will be participating this year. Every contribution, big or small, helps us give a child a brighter holiday season.
If donating is something you would like to do, please reach out to [email protected]. We are grateful for every person who chooses to be a part of this effort.
Together, we can bring smiles to families who need it most.

Student Corner: Holiday Season, Busy Schedules, and Safe Driving
Text messages, emails, decorations, shopping lists, friends, family, work, school, and everything in between. The holidays can get busy fast. With so much on your mind, it is easy to get distracted.
But if you are behind the wheel, none of those things can come first.
The National Safety Council reports that cell phone use while driving causes more than one and a half million crashes every year. Nearly 390,000 people are injured annually in accidents caused by texting while driving. Some studies show that one out of every four car accidents in the United States involves texting and driving.
For student drivers, this is one of the most important reminders we can give.
Please put your phone down when you are driving. No message is worth your life, your safety, or someone else’s safety. It is not only dangerous, it is also illegal.
You have a lot going on this season. Stay focused. Stay alert. Protect yourself and the people around you.
Safe driving is smart driving, especially during the holidays.

Safety and Awareness: Protect Your Holiday Packages From Porch Pirates
Holiday shopping is in full swing, which means deliveries are showing up on doorsteps all across Brookhaven. It is also the time of year when porch pirates look for easy opportunities. A few simple steps can help keep your packages safe and out of the wrong hands.
Here are some ways to protect your deliveries this season:
1. Track your packages.
Turn on delivery notifications and keep an eye on arrival times so items are not sitting outside too long.
2. Bring packages in quickly.
Ask a family member, roommate, or trusted neighbor to grab them if you are away when they arrive.
3. Choose a secure delivery location.
If possible, send packages to your workplace, a trusted neighbor, or a parcel locker. Most major carriers offer locker pickups for free.
4. Add delivery instructions.
Many services allow you to request packages be placed behind a planter or out of sight from the street.
5. Install a camera or doorbell device.
Even a basic camera can deter thieves, and footage can help identify suspects if something happens.
6. Avoid leaving boxes outside after you open them.
Break down cardboard and place it inside your recycling bin so it does not advertise what new items are in your home.
Porch pirates look for quick grabs. When your deliveries are harder to see or reach, they are far more likely to move on. A little preparation goes a long way in keeping your holiday shopping safe and stress free.
If you see something, say something. Your call could make all the difference. For emergencies, always dial 911.
Brookhaven Strong - The Season of Simple Goodness
The holiday season brings a lot of excitement, but it also reminds us of something deeper. Every act of kindness makes a difference. A donated toy, a warm meal, a helping hand, or even a friendly conversation can change someone’s entire day.
Brookhaven is a strong city because we have people who care. People who give. People who show up. When we choose compassion, we create a ripple that reaches far beyond the moment.
So as you move through the season, keep spreading the simple goodness that makes this community shine. Look out for your neighbors, support those who need it, and celebrate the small wins that bring us together.
A little care goes a long way, and together we can close out the year with hope, connection, and a spirit that lifts everyone around us.

Have a Question? We’ve Got Answers!
This section answers questions submitted by our community. Here’s one we received recently:
Q: What should I do if I see someone taking packages from a neighbor’s porch?
A: If you see someone removing packages and you are confident it does not look like the homeowner or a known delivery service, call 911 right away. Do not approach the person or try to confront them. Your safety is the priority. Provide the dispatcher with as much detail as you can, like the person’s description, the direction they walked or drove off in, and any vehicle information you noticed.
If you have a camera that recorded the incident, save the footage and share it with responding officers. Clear videos and quick reporting help us track patterns and identify suspects faster.
Staying aware and reporting what you see helps protect the entire neighborhood.
